most artists, I began creating my art as a child. I illustrated my high school annual as well as added photography. I majored in art in college and minored in history and psychology. I went on to earn an elementary teaching credential but found I preferred teaching adults art. To earn an income, I worked as a decorator for about 10 years, then shifted to professional photography. All during this time I continued to draw and paint. Even after becoming a Hypnotherapist my passion for art was unabated. Gail grew up in Connecticut, attended Skidmore College, and graduated from Trinity College in Hartford with a degree in Psychology. After moving to New Jersey in 1975, she earned a masters in Studio Art from Montclair University. She likes working in so many different media that it would be hard to pigeonhole her style, but mixed media, collage, oil pastels and watercolor currently top her favorites list. I also enjoy working with watercolors and acrylics. I am a self-taught artist —curiousity, creativity and resourceful ness takes over by nature. These instincts show up in all parts of my life-not just in my studio. Working with many mediums, my practice resists categories because I do. At the heart is paper.I may begin with paint, but I aways end up working with hand painted papers— made on a jelly plate and other experimental methods, unpredictable and alive. I don’t paint on paper so much as I paint with it. I make art because I can’t help myself. I work with what I have—repurposing, layering, finding potential in what others might overlook.
