The Endowment for Peace
The Endowment for Peace fund is dedicated to sharing the Peacetown concept of celebrating peace with communities across the United States. The growing principal amount will stay intact, while the interest income will be used to educate and share Peacetown organizational templates and practices for creating harmony by celebrating music, dance, poetry, and the arts in communities around the country.
At the core of the Endowment for Peace is the recognition that every community has the potential to align itself with the Principles of Peace, and to advocate the Ways of Being in Peacetown.
The Endowment mission is to create Peacetowns in every community around the country by showcasing Peacetown Sebastopol as a living model and example of how to create celebrations that enrich the lives of all who participate.
How does the Endowment for Peace grow?
As each Caretaker brings in 2 additional Caretakers, the number of people supporting Peacetown grows exponentially.
As each caretaker adds $5.00 to the Endowment it also grows exponentially.
With each Caretaker bringing two people in to become caretakers, after 20 splits there would be one million caretakers - and $5,000,000.
Interest at 4% on $5,000,000 = $200,000 to be invested in growing Peacetowns across the United States, and on creating local, regional and national Peacetown events.
Because the Principle stays intact, the Endowment will continue to grow, and the interest accruing will continue to grow exponentially every year.
How will Peacetown Community Building Grants be Awarded?
Starting locally in California, for the purpose of growing “sister” Peacetowns regionally and nationally, grants will be awarded each year to teach hands-on application of Peacetown templates and practices to communities that apply. Early funding of outreach informational materials and videos will be created by the Peacetown Sebastopol Board of Directors.
Applications will be juried by the Peacetown Board, informed by an advisory Peacetown Endowment Council providing guidance and oversight.
As the Endowment grows, the mission of sharing Principles of Peace, Ways of Being in Peacetown, and practical methods to advocate for Peace with celebration will become the foundation for a national organization, with the mission of growing Peace in every community. International growth is anticipated and welcomed.
Important note: Each individual Peacetown organization will continue to invite people to join by becoming a caretaker with a $25 yearly donation, of which $5 will go to the Endowment fund, and with $20 going to the local Peacetown organization to support their community concerts and events for Peace.
The Two-Step method of Growing the Endowment – starting in Sebastopol, and growing community by community.
1. Become a Caretaker of Peacetown for $25.00
$5.00 from yearly donation goes into the Endowment fund, and the balance goes into supporting Peacetown functions.
2. Bring two people in to become Peacetown Caretakers
